Clare Johnson, of the University of Georgia Mountain Research and Education Center, has created research-based landscape plans for those who want to create a garden for the fireflies.

Firefly Garden #1

Have a spot that occasionally collects water, or just a low spot on your property? This is prime firefly real estate, and the plants in this garden love it. This garden has a nice mix of a tree, shrubs and perennials. Plant it in full sun to part shade. Click HERE to download.

Firefly Garden #2

These plants will thrive in an area with part sun to part shade. After establishment, these plants shouldn’t need very much additional irrigation. Use the space under the Bottlebrush Buckeye to collect rotting logs, sticks and leaf litter to improve your firefly habitat. Click HERE to download.
